I’m not a natural printer. I’ve been lucky enough to try etching, silkscreen, lithography, mono-printing and now Riso printing. Thinking in terms of layers blows my mind. I find myself working further and further into something trying to apply a painterly approach of adding and re-sectioning rather than planning. It’s the ultimate difference between working in a slightly detached diagrammatic way and a fully embodied immersive way.
I favour the later! But! Having everything makes for a stimulating , varied and surprising piece of work.
Everything is very much the theme of this body of work where I’m dining out on my favourite subjects, images and using many different materials. It’s a kind of gorging in content and making.
Ive been starving. Now I’m feasting.
I have been learning Riso with Sarah at Goose studio at Creek Creative Faversham and will be exhibiting with other Riso addicts in the first week of September in Faversham .
