In January I booked a gallery in Faversham with the sole intention of having a good size space to work on several large canvas’ at once. It worked really well for me. I liked the engagement of passers by , it gave me the feeling of my process being accompanied.
I particularly wanted to re work paintings that no longer inspire me. I used a stream of consciousness way of working and let the paintings suggest content. Complex narratives emerged and a sense of giving permission for characters in my psyche to come forward. Added to my interest in Folk Art and Outsider Art I let myself be playful. The door was open to the public and fruitful conversations were had.
