I have felt a bit fraudulent being part of London Potters , I don’t see myself as a potter, and more importantly I don’t have access to the level of knowledge and expertise that a Potter has, but ‘London Potters’ doesn’t discriminate and I have been fortunate to exhibit at the Morley Gallery and was invited to talk about my work for their magazine.
The work chosen was my most random , the work that sits precariously between ceramics figures and dressing dolls.
I have used none ceramic materials to add to my ceramics. There is a fragility in fabrics that makes the work more emotional somehow. There is an intimacy in attending to the piece this way that feels early and playful.
I have made the pieces, then disowned them, feeling they were not ‘serious’ enough to qualify as fine art but actually I now see how they tie in with collections which have been significant to me , namely ‘Les Saltambiques’ collection of outsiders.
I will post again as this series develops .
