Glass Collaboration

Time does not stand still. So often I have ambitions I long to manifest and quite often I don’t have all the necessary skills so it’s been amazing to collaborate on some stained glass works.

The designs have evolved from colourful paintings I called ‘abstract girls’ . Collages of brightly coloured areas colours with stylised drawings inspired by Ancient Greek drawing. All roads lead back to Greece eventually it seems.

My other interest in love or attachment between people, lovers, family friends is expressed in these symbiotic pieces. Is it two in love or one including another part of the self  or a longed for part. I use my unconscious as ever to fuel my process.

choosing the coloured glass with many textures is a delight. I learnt how to paint on the glass to include further detail.

Stefan Poole, a retired firefighter who started out in life as a fabricator and welder soon mastered the very precise art of stained glass, adapting methods to suit his pedantic approach.

So you see here a marriage of wild expressive process and diligent craftsmanship.
