A new romance with stone has completely captivated me.
This stone from the cathedral is the softest I’ve carved, it’s delicious to work with but it is still asking me to concentrate so hard as if I make a mistake there are immediate consequences. I love it more than any media I have used so far as it offers me a very physical relationship and it doesn’t collapse on me. It can withstand my blunders and my power.
I have returned to Leeds to work with David Iredale @thesculpturegallery and joined a class with Paul Wright at Canterbury Tech. In September I will learn also from @lucychurchill in York. I will soon have my own set of chisels in addition to those found in my late father’s tool kit.
I started carving because I want to have a sculpture park in Greece. 🇬🇷 I have to find a way to make this happen.
Stone asks me to take a long term view. It can’t be hurried.
