All the promise…

The first piece I’ve made that changes during the course of an exhibition. The peach blossoms reminding me of Japanese paintings and symbolic of fertility. The pert peach glass casings reminding me of a Helmut Newton photograph of a woman standing with chest jutting forward like a figure head in the bow of a boat as men gaze mesmerised.

The perfect and imperfect breasts a lure .
I left the piece screwed to the wall… an experiment.

The curators Bella Carr and Caroline Humphreys kindly send me some photographs six weeks later.

The piece holds a powerful tension: beauty and decay, containment and exposure, the maternal body as giver and ghost.

Deserters, an exhibition about Artists and illness is at Oriel y Bont gallery at South Wales University open until September.
