Bedgebury
I studied with Arthur Niel at Maidstone College of Art receiving a thorough induction in drawing and painting from life. It was taught with all the intensity and diligence that millions of Artists before me have found to be a gate way to have the facility and confidence to manifest anything.
When most relaxed, usually in Greece , I like nothing better than to sit and look at landscapes, to paint plein air or a still life study using natural light and oil paint on canvas. It’s a discipline and a joy to travel this path and is as important as work from my unconscious. It is a way of anchoring my art practice and keeps my hand, eye and mind connection honed. I learn the same things about form, light colour and drawing , a new, each time. These paintings don’t date and the wonder of catching an experience in time holds me still as my mind meanders along other creative pathways.
